The Present State
Location:
High Street, City Centre
Date:
2014 October
At The Present State, the public could experience the current state of our re-developing city. This contemplative installation filled a vacant lot behind an empty building with the recordings of foraging adventures throughout the city’s plant spaces.
This film of the suburban red zone opened up the unseen parts of the city to the public, who were encouraged to take time to consider and appreciate the spaces where plants grow.
These spaces normally go unnoticed – but Plant Gang invited all to consider how plants can have a place within the city and its rebuild by projecting this quiet and thoughtful film onto a central city wall.
