People Building Better Cities

Location:

City Centre

Date:

2015

Christchurch organisation Te Pūtahi - Christchurch centre for architecture and city-making, hosted the People Building Better Cities exhibition during winter 2015. The exhibition was managed by Global Studio

Having evolved from FESTA (The Festival of Transitional Architecture), Te Pūtahi is focused on the on-going renewal of Christchurch for the long term. Members from Christchurch’s creative community came together to use their wealth of experience to creatively engage a wide range of stakeholders and users with the making of a better city.

People Building Better Cities documented a number of community-driven projects that shared a common goal: the promotion of inclusive urbanisation to improve the lives of the urban poor through innovations in participatory design and planning. In addition to regular exhibition opening hours, Te Pūtahi hosted a series of public talks and workshops, creating space for people to learn and develop as citizens, neighbours and professionals.
